Field Study

I just had to do something. Don’t usually work in watercolors, but there is nothing like watercolors for a quick sketch.

They are much more portable than other mediums. My materials are packed still and will be for a while longer. This gives me a creative outlet and can serve as sketches for more ambitious paintings.

I did this in the field. I think it helps me with color and value. This is pretty right on with those at least.

Not a great painting, but I can certainly see where I’d like to take it! Next time I’ll bring a stool so I don’t have to sit on the ground.
