Giant Oak

IMG_3380_3_1I have worked on this painting, standing at its base, I think 4 times now. Each time the tree looks and feels a little different, yet I am adding to the same painting.

Sometimes I wish I could paint it “right” in one pass. But sometimes the painting takes on more depth and interest to me, if you can see layers and process. I like this painting for the search that it shows. I was thrilled to see it begin to leaf out and be able to add that remarkable green. This stage of new leaf lasts for such a brief time. I’m lucky!

Just as I started today, Paul drove up on his tractor with a little bunny in a bucket! It’s sibling wasn’t so lucky as it got knocked out when the tiller started. But Paul was able to rescue this little guy and let him go right under the tree I’m painting!
